Maple Leaf 260811a
Maple Leaf 260811a captures the rich, changing colors of autumn in a pair of individually handmade polymer clay earrings. Variegated areas of red, orange, and earthy green flow through each leaf, with touches of translucency that give the colors added depth and a wonderfully natural quality.
Black vein details define the maple leaf shape and stand out against the layered fall colors. Each leaf is finished on both the front and back with satin varnish, preserving a softer surface that suits the organic character of the design.
One of my favorite details on this pair is the hand-formed curl of sterling silver wire above each leaf. The loose, twisting shape suggests the stem of a leaf tumbling through the air and gives the earrings a little extra movement and personality.
The reverse is made with a translucent blend of the same autumn colors, so the earrings remain colorful and interesting from the back as they move while being worn.
This is the exact pair shown in the photographs. Because the clay pattern was individually created and cut, each leaf has its own arrangement of color and markings.
